PNOZmulti 2 Small Controller - Base Units

The Pilz PNOZmulti 2 configurable safe small controllers are widely used across plant and mechanical engineering for reliable supervision of safety functions while also performing standard control tasks. Their modular architecture allows users to choose a base unit and expand it with optional I/O modules, tailoring the system precisely to the application's needs.

The compact standalone base unit PNOZ m C0 provides the power of a safety controller in just 22.5 mm width—similar to a safety relay—yet includes eight safe inputs and four safe outputs capable of monitoring up to four safety functions. It supports applications up to PL e (EN ISO 13849-1) and SIL CL 3 (EN IEC 62061), making it ideal for small machines, robot cells, packaging equipment, and food & beverage systems.

All hardware configuration and application logic are created using the PNOZmulti Configurator software. The completed program is stored on a removable memory module and loaded directly into the base unit. Configuration can be simulated offline, enabling testing without hardware and reducing setup time.

For applications requiring more safety functions, users can migrate to modular base units such as PNOZ m B0, PNOZ m B0.1, or PNOZ m B1, each supporting a range of expansion modules. The new PNOZ m B0.1 base unit adds further flexibility, supporting up to one I/O module—such as digital input modules, relay modules, or semiconductor output modules—and can now serve as a successor to PNOZmulti Mini systems.
