BBC Bircher Wireless Safety Edges (ExpertSystem XRF) combine a pressure-sensitive safety edge with wireless radio signal transmission, removing the need for a trailing cable to the moving door or gate leaf.
Built on BBC Bircher's modular ExpertSystem platform with self-assembly, pluggable connections and an optional quick-mounting system, the wireless safety edge transmits the switching signal over a 868 MHz radio link with a range of up to 100 metres under optimal conditions. When the edge contacts a person or obstacle, the transmitter instantly signals the receiver to stop or reverse the drive. The innovative profile design offers a large switch-active sensor surface, a short activation distance and high sensitivity to low actuating forces, and the system can be configured for safety category PLc Cat. 2 or PLd Cat. 3 in accordance with EN ISO 13849-1. This makes it the practical choice for sliding gates, swing gates and fast folding doors where running a control cable to the moving leaf is difficult or unreliable.
